Bollywood super star R. Madhavan, producer Ramesh Sippy, and renowned author Shobha De were amongst the many eminent personalities who graced us with their presence at the Mountain Echoes 2011 an Initiative by the Indo-Bhutan foundation. Madhavan showcased his literary skills at the ‘screenplay to screen’ talk with Sippy and Shobha De. This talked offer the delegates some very interesting insight in to the world of screen writing.
Madhavan has recently essayed a role of a college student in the Bollywood super-hit 3 Idiots. Also present were JaideepSahni whose wrote the dialogues for the cult classic Company and gave Kabir Khan, the Indian coach from Chak de India his awe inspiring dialogues. Jaideep chaired a session called Words on Reel.
Another notable presence at the festival was that of Imtiaz Ali who has directed hits like Jab We Met and Love AajKal. Both these movies were a rage with the Indian youth. He was a part of an interactive session on script writing.
Renowned lyricists Gulzar and JavedAkhtar were also present at the festival and offered some very interesting insights to the attendees.
Organisers are positioning the festival as a tourism cum literary festival aiming to provide a platform for authors to engage in cultural dialogue and celebrate tales of a shared landscape in the Himalayan region.
The festival was organized under the auspices of the Queen Mother and was give shape by Pavan K Verma the Indian ambassador to Bhutan.
