The Bhutan laya trek

The Laya-Gasa trek in Bhutan is by far among the most popular Bhutan trekking options among tourists. It's a 17-day trek, which is rated a medium hard trek. It takes one through diverse terrain and mountain hamlets all the way down to Gasa. The hot springs here are famous all over the world for their immense medicinal benefits. For five days, this trek follows the route of the Jhomolhari trek till Lingshi. For the next five days, you will walk for 6-7 hours daily and make a number of ascents and descents. You will be blessed with a golden opportunity to witness the true essence of nature during your entire trek. Want to know what nature looks like when it is not ravaged by civilization? Day 1:

You will arrive at Paro international airport. Yetis & Dragons Bhutan Travel Agency guides will warmly receive you, help you with airport formalities and transfer you to a very comfortable hotel. Every hotel in Bhutan by the way is meticulously monitored by the Bhutanese government. We have organized an orientation talk in the evening in which you will be briefed about your upcoming adventure. After a sumptuous multi-course dinner, you will spend the night at the hotel. You are all set now to experience your most exciting trek in Bhutan.

Day 2:Sightseeing of the Paro valley

We will take you on a sight-seeing trip through the beautiful valley. Remember, this is just the precursor. There is much more to come. You will return to your hotel to spend the night after having been treated to authentic Bhutanese cuisine with additional choices for those who wish to stay on the traditional side of things this last time.

Day 3: Paro to Shana

Distance: 17 km

Altitude: 2800 m

Your trek has just begun!

Day 4: Shana to Soi Thangtahankha

Distance: 9-10 hours

Altitude: 3750 m

Day5: Soi Thangtahankha to Jangothang

Distance: 19 km trail

Altitude: 4040 m

Day 6:

Your choice of short hikes or rest stop at Jangothang to help you recharge your batteries

Day 7: Jangothang to Lingshi

Distance: 19 km trail

Altitude: 4150 m

Day 8: Lingshi to Chebisa

Distance: 19 km walk

Altitude: 3850 m

Day 9: Chebisa to Shomutang

Distance: 17 km walk

Altitude: 4250 m

Day 10: Shomutang to Robluthang

Distance: 18 km trail

Altitude: 4400m

Day 11: Robluthang to Lemithang

Distance: 19 km walk

Altitude: 4100 m

Day 12: Lemithang to Laya

Distance: 10 km trail

Altitude: 3800 m

Day 13:

Enjoy a day's rest at Laya. Explore the village with our guides or alone if you choose since it is absolutely safe to do so. This is your perfect opportunity to discover a segment of trekking in Bhutan that many have lauded and written about.

Day 14: Laya to Chamsa

Distance: 8-9 hours walk

Altitude: 3800 m

Day 15: Chamsa to Gasa Tsahchu

Distance: 5-6 hours walk

Altitude: 4160 m

Day 16: Rest stop at Gasa Tshachu

After several long days of an outdoor trist with nature through a Bhutan travel trekking experience especially customized for you, this is the perfect time to relax. Enjoy the hot spring baths for which this part of Bhutan is famous all over the world.

Day 17: Gasa Tshachu to Goen Damji

Distance: 5-6 hours walk

Altitude: 2200 m

Your trek ends here.

Day 18: Goen Damji to Punakha via Tashithang

Once you arrive in Punakha, you will stay overnight at the hotel. You are finally back to a few creature comforts you have missed for a few days but as you will notice when you compare, your experience will be entirely worth it.

Day 19:

Morning sightseeing of the Punakha and Wangdi valleys

Enjoy a pleasant and scenic Afternoon drive to Thimphu

You will stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 20:

Spend the morning sightseeing in the Thimphu valley and take in all the exotic sights.

You will stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 21: Drive to Paro

You will visit Simtokha Dzong on the route. This is one of the most famous and oldest monuments in Bhutan.

Indulge in a memorable Farewell Dinner since the time to bid adieu has finally arrived.

Rest comfortably at the hotel.
