Most young people as with the rest of the world make mistakes and sometimes run off track. Such is the story of young DawaDakpa. Having turned to the bottle at an early age thus being unable to graduate from college, Dawa could see his life slipping in to a dark abyss.
Young and unemployed Dawa used to roam the streets looking for work. Then one day epiphany struck and he decided to open Bhutan’s first shoe restoration and cleaning service
Talking to Dawa he told us that Shoe Viveal shoes undergo a 15 step process of cleaning, dying , sterilizing deodorizing and polishing etc. Not to mention we also repair old shoes. We opened shop in January and have serviced about 50 customers till date.
“People are slow to understand the concept of a shoe laundry” Dawa laments, but is optimistic about the future as he believes that the best marketing for him is his satisfied customer base and that he says is growing by the day.
SonamDorji a local resident was full of praise for Dawa and says he serves as great role model for the youth who are looking to turn their lives around.
